Chadstone The Fashion Capital is a shopping centre located in Malvern East, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is the largest shopping centre in Australia and one of the largest in the world, with over 476 stores, services and arcades and centres. It covers an area of 190,000 square metres and has a gross leasable area of 221,217 square metres. It offers a wide range of retail, hospitality, entertainment and lifestyle offerings, including luxury brands, designer boutiques, Australian labels, beauty destinations, food courts, restaurants, bars, cinemas, playgrounds and more. Chadstone The Fashion Capital was opened in 1960 as the first self-contained regional shopping centre in Melbourne. It was named after the original property developer Stanley Korman’s home suburb of Chadderton in Lancashire, England. It was designed by architects Buchan Laird & Buchan in a modernist style and featured a distinctive concrete gridshell roof that spanned 30 metres across the central atrium. The shopping centre has undergone several renovations and expansions over the years to keep up with the growing population and demand of the customers.

It has cafes, restaurants, food courts and bars that serve different cuisines and specialties, such as Brick Lane Espresso, Laubman & Pank Optometrists, Organica Pizzeria, Red Pepper Chinese Restaurant and The Lott. It also has seasonal pop-ups and activities that provide entertainment and fun for the whole family. Chadstone The Fashion Capital is open seven days a week, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM on weekdays (except Thursday and Friday when it closes at 9:00 PM), from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Saturdays and from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Sundays. Shopping mall can be easily accessed by public transport, as it is close to several bus stops that connect to other suburbs and train stations. It also has a free shuttle bus that runs daily from Federation Square in the city centre to the shopping centre and back. It also has over 10,000 free car parking spaces available for customers. Shopping centre attracts more than 24 million visitors per year and generates over $2 billion in annual sales.
