DFO Moorabbin is a factory outlet shopping centre in Cheltenham, a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is one of the eight DFO centres in the country and it offers a variety of discounted products from fashion, homewares, sports, luggage, accessories and more. DFO Moorabbin is located at 250 Centre Dandenong Road, Moorabbin Airport VIC 3194. It is about 20 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne central business district and it is adjacent to Moorabbin Airport. The land where the shopping centre stands was originally used by the Boon Wurrung people for natural springs and market gardens. The shopping centre was first opened in 1994 as Fairways Leisure Market, on land that was part of the airport. It was purchased by the Austexx Group in 1997 as their first DFO shopping centre. The name DFO stands for Direct Factory Outlet, which means that the retail outlets sell excess or previous seasons’ stocks at reduced prices. In 2010, the shopping centre was acquired by CFS Retail (now Vicinity Centres), along with three other DFO centres in Essendon, Homebush and South Wharf.
